Ruth is Managing Director of SJD Electrical, an award-winning, high-growth SME electrical contractor in Milton Keynes.
Ruth is passionate about improving skills and is a member of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education Construction Route Panel, responsible for the approval of apprenticeship proposals, standards and assessment plans. Ruth helped develop the Electrotechnical trailblazer apprenticeship standard and remains involved in its ongoing governance. She was formerly a trustee of SummitSkills.
Ruth is also a member of the Construction Leadership Council’s Skills Work Stream, which focuses on creating a framework to deliver a workforce with the relevant skills to match the industry’s needs.
She is Chair of the ECA’s Skills Committee and currently involved in campaigns to increase employee engagement with schools and colleges and promote valid routes to achieve vocational competence.
She is a volunteer Enterprise Adviser for the Careers & Enterprise Company in the SEMLEP region, strategically supporting MK College and working to improve local employer engagement with education.
Ruth is an alumni of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 small business growth programme and recently completed her MBA.
