TESP was formed in 2014 as a response to changes in the skills landscape, notably a desire from the government to put education and training firmly in the hands of employers and industry.
Through the combined resources and expertise of the five core partners – ECA, Joint Industry Board (JIB), NET, SELECT and Unite the Union (supported by partners JTL and the IET) – TESP is able to provide:
- A collective industry partnership to drive action on behalf of employers and the industry
- A coordinated and consistent response to skills issues for the electrotechnical industry, from entry through to ongoing development and progression.
- A single coherent body to set and maintain standards for the electrotechnical industry, including specialist groups
- A single voice and point of contact for government and stakeholders on electrotechnical skills issues
