Policy Updates

  • The Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022 has a new measure ‘Prioritising local needs and local people’, placing a legal requirement on colleges and other providers to work with employers to develop skills plans, so that the training on offer meets the needs of local areas.
  • Statutory guidance for FE Institutions entitled ‘Review how well the education or training provided meets local needs‘ sets out that governing bodies of colleges that provide post-16 technical education or training will consider Local Skills Improvement Plans when making decisions on their provision.
