Amendment 4 (2026) BS 7671:2018 will be published in April 2026. It is not feasible for EAL and City & Guilds to make a further update to their existing BS 7671: 2018 qualifications, therefore they will each be launching a replacement Level 3 award.
Existing 18th Edition qualifications will continue to meet the requirements of industry training routes and to be recognised under ECS and EAS. There is no requirement for those holding currently recognised 18th edition qualifications to take the new qualification, unless an individual wishes to do so for formal CPD purposes.
Awarding organisations have written to their centres with full details on transition arrangements and the impact on other qualifications which have BS 7671 embedded as knowledge and/or practical assessment.
